Hospital District takes measures to move forward with new management

For their December meeting, the Trinity Memorial Hospital District discussed moving forward with their new management agreement with Endeavor Healthcare based in New Braunfels, TX. On Nov. 21, the Board voted to enter into a full-service management agreement with Endeavor.

The Board has been working with Karl Hittle, co-owner of Endeavor Healthcare, and signed a full-service and transition maintenance agreement on Dec. 1. On Dec. 5, Hittle spent several hours with the Board to discuss details. He’s currently working toward finding a hospital administrator.

“They seem to be so organized,” said Board Member Marjory Pulvino. “They will be taking over so much responsibility for us. I’m really impressed.”

Hittle will serve as the administrator through the transition, and plans on coming to all board meetings. The TMHD expressed excitement over the level of hands-on involvement Hittle plans to have.

“I have had an initial telephone conversation with Karl Hittle, and we have begun an email working relationship,” ETMC – Trinity Administrator said in her Administrator’s report. “He has not provided a time line yet other than to say he will likely be more present in Trinity come January. I have directed him to use the office next to mine… and staff will assist him as needed.”ETMC will continue to work with Trinity Memorial Hospital until the transition is complete, and Ruth Cook will continue as administrator until that time. When a Trinity I.S.D. vehicle was recently rear-ended, resulting in one fatality and several children and adults visiting the hospital, ETMC worked to take care of press releases so the local staff could focus on patients. All hospital staff were asked to come in that day, and all obliged. In other news, Cook gave an update on one of ETMC – Trinity’s physicians.“Dr. Quan has joined the Christina Medical and Dental Association, a professional organization that does missions, as well as recruit and place physicians and midlevels,” according to Cook’s administrator’s report. “Unlike most recruiting firms, it manages through prayer and networking therefore Dr. Quan’s connection with them is the lead point for recruiting. I have advised him of this and how Fairfield has been successful in recruiting two physicians through this source at a major cost savings compared to other recruiter fees. Practitioners who are members value people and want the kind of practice setting that is congruent with their faith. The administrator plays a role, but more for community demographics, logistics, and reimbursements of the site visit.”Last, the board applauded the efforts of hospital staff who worked to assist three local families in December. They helped buy Christmas presents, blankets and more. The Trinity memorial Hospital District meets every third Monday at the ETMC Conference room at 5:30 p.m.
