Trinity woman dies in accident; benefit planned

haley2On Friday, July 14,  Haley Burk, 21, of Trinity tragically lost her life in an accident in Riverside on her way to work. Haley was a beloved community member who served as Trinity's Community Fair Queen in 2013 and graduated from Trinity High School in 2014. She had two jobs in Huntsville at the time of her death, was attending Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, and was interested in working in the medical field.

"She was a great kid," family friend Elizabeth Slimp commented. "She always had a smile, she'd always hug you when she saw you. She had that infectious laugh, she loved life..."

During her time at Trinity High School, Haley was captain of the dance team and the mascot for the varsity cheerleading team. She also played softball and was an active member of the Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church youth group. She liked Disney movies and The Beatles, and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi at SHSU.

Friends of Shane Williford and Kevin Pringle, Haley's parents, have opened a bank account and organized a benefit to help them with the unexpected expenses associated with Haley's death. Donations can be made at First National Bank in Trinity, TX under "Benefit for Haley Burk", or mailed to P.O Box 747 Trinity, TX 75862.

A barbecue benefit for Haley's family will be held at two locations on Friday, August 4, at the Trinity Community Center, and at Grand Central Station in the D&S Plaza. Plates will include a sandwich, potato salad, and drink for $10.
